Critically acclaimed Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja, who has been accused of raping his 18-year-old domestic help, will be subjected to DNA tests, which are expected to provide crucial evidence in the case.

"The accused (Shiney) will undergo various forensic tests that include DNA test as well. This will help us to gather more evidence against him," Deputy Police Commissioner (Zone VII) Niket Kaushik said.

According to Kaushik, the police have also sealed off the actor's house where the crime was committed after a special forensic team inspected the premises to obtain more evidence against the actor.

"We have got several items for forensic tests, like semen samples, the bed sheet, vaginal swabs and clothes. We have started the process of retrieving any semen stains from items collected from the actor's house and it will take a week to complete the process of profiling the actor's DNA and compare it with the semen samples," the state forensic director, M.V. Garad, said.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Dilip Suryavanshi, the clothes of the rape victim and the offender have been seized by the police and sent to Kalina Forensic Science Laboratory for tests and if the results come out as positive, Ahuja could face a minimum jail term of seven years. "Besides the clothes of the victim and the accused, swabs and a smear from the girl's private parts have also been sent for chemical analysis to laboratory," Suryavanshi said.

"Blood samples of both the girl and the actor have also been sent to the laboratory to find out whether the offence was committed under the influence of any drug or alcohol," he added.

The 36-year-old actor, who was accused by his domestic help of gagging and raping her on Sunday, was arrested by the police the following day and booked under Section 376 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape, Section 506 for criminal intimidation and Section 342 for wrongful confinement.
