Dum Maaro Dum - Music Review

Pritam is back again with another rocking album, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’. Expectation from the album is sky-high for various reasons. In the first place, the title arise expectation. Since it was shot in Goa, the thing that makes Goa popular comes to mind. Goa beaches, their hippie culture, drugs, sex, mafia all combined and put together in the lyrics and music to bring out the perfect setting of the place and delivering an ear-soothing album.

Another reason that builds up expectation is the remake of yesteryears hit number, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ to which veteran actress Zeenat Aman grooved. Deepika Padukone danced to the tune of the new version which was also appreciated.

The album has altogether seven songs and singers like Anushka Manchanda, Ash King, Sunidhi Chauhan, Papon, Zubeen Garg, Abhishek Bachchan, Earl, Ayush Phukan and Mohit Chauhan lend their voice. The album has all types of songs, fast, slow, romantic, disco, hip-hop, sad. Music lovers will get to experience all flavor.

The album opens with a title track, ‘Mit Jaaye Gham’ sung by Anushka Manchanda. Inspired from the popular track, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ from the film, ‘Haare Krishna Haare Ram’, the song is high in beats and very groovy, sure to flame up the dance floor. Extra effort has been applied to make the song number one in the music chartbuster but it still could not match up to the original.

The second track goes as "Te amo", this song narrates the various personality of a girl. It is a touchy number, very soft in appeal. It is crooned by Ash King and Sunidhi Chauhan. There are also English lyrics in between.

This number has two versions, sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and the other version was sung by Mohit Chauhan. Mohit’s track was better than the original.

The next that follows is "Jiyein kyun" sung by Papon. This song will impress you on first listening itself. Singer Papon deserve huge round of applause. His powerful vocal leaves a mark and is the finest track of the album. His voice texture is very striking. The song has less music. This track will rock in the days to come.

Then there is a situational song, ‘Jaana Hai’ sung by Zubin Garg. It is a rocking number, fully instrumental. Zubin’s voice matches up to the music and the lyrics. He has put all the feelings in the song.

The final track "Thayn Thayn", was crooned by Abhishek Bachchan. He has lend his voice way back in 2005 in Bluffmaster and now Rohan Sippy and Pritam want Abhishek to croon this situational track. It is a rap number also has few dialogues. Earl and Ayush Phukan hold the mike behind Abhishek and lend him the desired support.

On the whole, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ is a complete musical package. Pritam has done a good job. All the singers delivered their best.
